Urban wastewater treatment plants are important collection points for many chemical contaminants, often called micropollutants, which are widespread in the aquatic environment. In the Chempact project, researchers around the Baltic Sea have collaborated to increase the knowledge about the release of micropollutants from urban wastewater treatment plants to the sea, and to understand the effects of micropollutants on marine life.
At this Baltic Breakfast the researchers will present the results from the Chempact project and related research in the marine environment. This is highly relevant in the context of the likely upcoming revision of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive.
